Leadership
Executive Director, Horizons Graland
Christi James
With over 30 years of experience in education at Graland, Christi James is a passionate leader and master teacher dedicated to creating equitable opportunities for all students. As executive director of Horizons Graland, she leads initiatives that provide academic and enrichment opportunities to students and families who may not otherwise have access to these resources.
During her tenure at Graland, Christi played a significant role in developing the school’s Lower School Spanish curriculum and the school’s service-learning program, which is now integrated across all grade levels. Her innovative approach to teaching and curriculum design has had a lasting impact on both students and educators. Christi holds a master’s degree in curriculum, instruction, and assessment from Regis University, a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Colorado College, and certifications in both elementary education and secondary world language instruction.
Christi was drawn to Horizons Graland because it aligns perfectly with her dual passions for education and service. She values how the program not only supports students academically but also fosters a strong sense of community and belonging. From the moment students wear their Horizons shirts with pride to the lifelong friendships formed during field trips and shared meals, Horizons Graland creates an inclusive environment where students feel valued and empowered.
Looking ahead, Christi is focused on expanding Horizons Graland’s academic offerings and enrichment programs while strengthening community partnerships. Her leadership continues to inspire and empower both students and educators, making a meaningful and lasting impact in the Denver community.
